Q. Where will Good Shepherd Village be located?
A. Good Shepherd Village at Endwell will be located on 120 rolling
acres at the cross roads of Sally Piper and Farm to Market Roads
in Broome County. The vast acreage allows for a peaceful
country setting that’s close to shopping, restaurants, doctors'
offices and other important services. What’s more, Good Shepherd
Village will overlook one of the area’s most scenic golf
courses, Endwell Greens, and is just minutes from major highways.
Q. What will Good Shepherd Village offer?
A. Good Shepherd Village is licensed as a fee for service Continuing
Care Retirement Community (CCRC) by the State of New York. As
a CCRC, Good Shepherd Village will offer independent living in
cottages and apartments as well as on-site assisted living and
nursing care. While the emphasis will be on active independent
living, cottage residents will have priority access to other levels
of care, as they may need it.
Q. What will the cottages look like?
A. The cottages will offer convenient single story living with floor
plans ranging from approximately 1350 to 1800 square feet. A
choice of three floor plans will be offered, each with two bedrooms
and two baths, fully-equipped kitchen, ample closet space, laundry
area and attached garages. Quaint porches greet visitors
at the front door while large decks overlook the scenic views to
the rear.
Q. Will the apartments be large enough for
couples?
A. Apartments range from 750 to 1250 square feet and are perfect
for individuals and couples who want the convenience of having access
to community services all under one roof. Most apartments feature
one or two bedrooms, some with dens, and all have fully equipped
kitchens, spacious bathrooms with safety features and walk-in closets. Each
apartment also has its own washer and dryer.
Q. What services will be offered?
A. As a resident of Good Shepherd Village, you will enjoy virtually
maintenance-free living with all lawn care, trash pick up, snow
and leaf removal taken care of for you. Exterior and interior maintenance
of your cottage or apartment home means you'll never have
to pick up a paintbrush or climb a ladder again! In
addition, all residents will have access to dining in a variety
of settings, scheduled transportation, periodic housekeeping and
a host of social and recreational activities.
Q. What campus amenities will be available?
A. The Village Center will feature two floors of exciting resident
social and recreational areas. The terrace level will feature
a fitness center with age appropriate exercise equipment, indoor
heated pool, spa area offering hair care and massage services and
changing areas. On the main level,
residents and guests will enjoy a pub for casual dining, a spacious
dining room, a social hall for cultural and entertainment events,
a library and arts and crafts room. Cottage and apartment residents
have full use of these amenities as part of their monthly fee.
Q. Who is eligible to live at Good Shepherd
Village?
A. Individuals and couples 62 and older may become residents of Good
Shepherd Village. Residents will pay a one-time entrance fee (or “life
lease”) which enables you to stay in your cottage or apartment home for
as long as you are physically able. Ninety percent of the entrance fee
paid is refunded to you (or to your estate upon death) when you permanently
vacate your cottage or apartment home. Prospective residents will be
required to complete a medical and financial application form to demonstrate
ability to qualify for residency at Good Shepherd Village.
Q. What health care services will be available?
A. Residents of Good Shepherd Village will have priority access to
on-site assisted living and nursing care on a fee-for-service basis. Assisted
living services will provide assistance with daily living needs
including bathing, dressing, meals and medication management in
beautiful two-room suites complete with full baths and kitchenettes. A
small, state of the art nursing center will provide the same quality
nursing care that has become a hallmark of Good Shepherd-Fairview
Home.
Q Will pets be allowed?
A. Pets will be permitted with certain restrictions.
Q. When will Good Shepherd Village be available for
occupancy?
A. It is anticipated that Good Shepherd Village will be ready
for occupancy by January 2010. Some cottages may be available
sooner.
Q. What are the steps to becoming a
resident of Good Shepherd Village?
A. A $1,000 Priority Reservation Deposit
will place you on a priority list to select the floor plan and location
you desire. Ten percent of the applicable entrance
fee will be required to reserve your selected home. The remaining balance of your
entrance fee will be required when you are notified that your home
is ready for move-in. Monthly fees will begin the first month
of occupancy.
